Tropical Cutouts

Happy Tuesday, friends! Did your week start off well?

Fall officially started last week, but it is still very summery here in Boulder and I couldn’t be happier. Sunny Colorado they say, and I’m starting to believe it! While winter seems to be no where in sight, I know my days enjoying picnics on the lawn at lunch and taking evening strolls along the Boulder Creek are numbered. I’ve been warned about the approaching Colorado winter, so I’m soaking up as many rays as I can at the moment.

Needless to say, I’m taking full advantage of the warmer temps starting with my wardrobe. This dress is so vibrant and bright and flirty! My favorite details are the cute cutouts on the side. I’m not typically one to show skin around my midriff, but this dress does so tastefully and in a way that I can get on board with. It’s just subtle enough to make a statement without showing too much.

When wearing this dress in the cooler evenings, I like to pair it with a jean jacket that makes the outfit more casual and relaxed than would a more structured blazer or cardigan. The light wash of the denim gives it a more feminine feel, as darker wash jean jackets tend to look heavy and bulky on me. I paired the bright red print with a mustard colored clutch as a nod to the fall season approaching.

And these nude heels…they go with everything! Literally, everything. I’ve worn them to weddings and out on date nights, and I could even wear them in a more professional setting. I usually opt for flats when I have the choice, but these heels are comfortable enough to have survived hours of dancing at my Aunt’s wedding a few weekends ago. And that says a lot for their wearability coming from me.
