Happy Tuesday, friends! And happy Thanksgiving week! Is anyone else stoked for the food comas that are sure to ensue on Thursday? Or is that just me?
Fall is such a perfect time of year. The colors of the trees are stunning, family and friends are near, and the weather is at just the right temperature–somewhere between warm and cold. I usually go for thinner long sleeved shirts during this time, or short sleeves but with lots of layers.
I’ve never really thought about wearing a sleeveless sweater…it kind of seems oxymoronoic, no? (And when I hear the phrase ‘sleeveless sweater’, my first thought is to think of Chandler Bing’s assortment of 90’s sweater vests). But once I gave this one a shot, I knew it was the perfect transitioning piece for fall and I haven’t loooked back since.
I love that this sleeveless sweater keeps you warm without making you hot. Kind of like sticking your foot outside the covers to regulate your temperature–you want to cool off a bit but without the cold shock of pulling your whole leg out. It’s a nice compromise for staying nice and toasty under the blanket while keeping you cool at the same time. It’s not just me that does that, right?
At any rate, this sleeveless number is the perfect piece for those crisp fall days. When you want to be toasty inside a sweater but still feel the cool, refreshing fall breeze. (It’s the foot-outside-the-covers of the sweater world.) And the longer, tunic length of the sweater adds a level of sophistication without the effort. There’s just something about wearing longer lengths that lengths your legs and elevates the look, don’t you think?
I love how a palatte of white looks with a backdrop full of rich colors. So I went with an all-white fall look and paired this sleeveless sweater with these white jeans. There’s just something so refreshing and unexpected about an all white outfit. (See my last monochromatic outfit here.)
Because the sleeveless sweater is a bit oversized in it cut, I needed to wear a cami underneath. I choose the best layering cami I’ve ever tried in a black color as a contrasting detail to the full white ensemble. I think a lacy bandeau or bralette (here, here) would’ve looked very cute underneath as well–with just a peek of lacy detail on the sides.
For simpler outfits, I love to add a little bling to the mix. There’s nothing like a little sparkle to jazz up an outfit and make it more festive, right? I added this necklace as a statement piece that stayed within the realm of casual chic I was going for. And this bracelet and watch are two of my favorite gold pieces that go with literally everything (if you haven’t noticed me wearing them all the time).
I added some black strappy sandals for a hint of sophistication on this Saturday dinner date night. But this look could be worn equally well to work or out to lunch with the girls.
What do you think? Would you ever try the sleeveless sweater?
