Happy Fri-yay, friends! Are you ready for the weekend?!
I’m so beyond excited to be writing this post from Dallas, TX where I’ll be attending the Create + Cultivate conference tomorrow. With people like Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Julia of Gal Meet Glam, and Kendi of Kendi Everyday…I can’t wait to mix and mingle with well known bloggers and newbies (me) alike!
For today’s outfit, I’m sharing a little southwestern inspiration but with a modern flare. I have always loved the warm tones and textures of southwestern fabrics. There’s just something so home-y and comfortable about them. Case in point, I picked up this Aztec wrap coat a few months back and love how cozy it feels.
But if you’ve notice one thing about my style, it’s that I like LOVE lots of bright colors. Enter the perfect blouse with its mix of southwestern + bright colors.
I’ve actually had this southwestern-inspired top for years now and it’s a regular repeat from week-to-week.
Besides its unique pattern, my favorite aspect of this top is its color palette. Who knew navy, teal, and mustard yellow went so well together?! I just love how the darker navy acts to really brighten the teal and mustard yellow colors in a surprising and refreshing sort of way.
I of course couldn’t resist pairing my most beloved mustard yellow clutch with the ensemble. It just matched the golden features too perfectly not to, right?! I’ve found a similar cross-body version from Rebecca Minkoff that would be absolutely perfect for spring.
For a little sparkle, I added these metallic heels I picked up at Banana Republic on major sale around New Year’s Eve. They look fantastic with jeans too! (coming to the blog soon) They are a little on the tall side for me (4″), but the sparkle was too irresistible, right? You can never have enough shimmer in your life. 😉
To keep the ensemble fun and flirty, I paired the top with a classic navy pleated skirt that has just enough twirl-finity to be fitting for a Fri-yay but also still work-appropriate. You’ve gotta love a skirt that slims your waist while also bringing a sweet ruffling of pleats as you walk (or spin).
I paired a longer, layered necklace and pave crystal bracelet to keep the overall look simple and classic.
Another great detail of this top?…there is the cutest cutout in the back. I love a strategic cutout, especially when it’s placed unexpectedly. It adds a little flirty detail from the back, don’t you think?
What about you? What’s your favorite way to wear a southwestern pattern?
