Happy Thursday, friends! How is your week going? I’ve been spending it on the slopes of Breckenridge (follow along here), trying to soak up as much of this break as I can before school starts up again next week.
Is it just me or has buffalo check been all the rage this year? I mean from scarves to dresses…and coats (love this!) to even bow ties, it seems like the print has taken over the fashion world by storm. But I’m not complaining! There’s something so wintery and warm about the print. So when I saw this buffalo check skirt, I knew it needed to become a part of my winter wardrobe.
Originally when I was planning this outfit, I headed straight for a simple black sweater (last seen here). But then I thought a bright red top would really make the buffalo check pop! and would bring a little more vibrancy to the wintery look.
The verdict? I couldn’t be happier with the outcome! Don’t get me wrong, a black sweater would look fantastic with this skirt (I’ll probably wear it that way the next time), but there’s something so cheery and bright about the red that I’m really digging this season. Sometimes you need a little color to make your winter wardrobe have more pizzazz, you know?
I kept the color palette simple–red and black–pairing the ensemble with my favorite quilted black purse and strappy black sandals. I then added a cute little “xo” pendant necklace for a sweeter, feminine touch.
What about you? Do you have any favorite buffalo check pieces of your own?

January 13, 2016 at 8:51 amI love the buffalo check print on other people but I have yet to try it. Plaid never seems to look right on me but I love all the bold red on you.

January 17, 2016 at 10:04 pmThank you so much, Alicia! I wasn’t quite sure how to wear the print at first either, but I ended up loving this skirt. If you aren’t ready to go head-first into the print, you could always try something a little less loud like a scarf. There’s a super cute (and affordable) one from J. Crew Factory that I love and would highly recommend. Thanks for your sweet words! I’m so glad you stopped by!
