Good morning, friends! How was your weekend?
While spring break is right around the corner, it wouldn’t be springtime without an obligatory cold front coming in to surprise us. And for days when the wind is a little chillier than it should be (but not so chilly that I need to unpack my winter coats from storage again), my go-to option is this chic sleeveless coat.
Longline vests and dusters have been all the rage this season. And while I was hesitant to jump on board at first, after trying the sleeveless coat trend out for myself, I can totally understand the craze over these chic sleeveless silhouettes. (I tried the sleeveless sweater last fall too.)
My sleeveless coat in particular is a little heavier than most, which I actually love. Think: lighter weight wool coat. It makes for the perfect transitioning piece for me here in Colorado. But there are tons of great options out there that vary in color and material weight to fit your specific climate and uses. I love wearing mine on date nights or out exploring the town for fun.
There’s something casual, yet chic about sleeveless pieces and they can instantly transform just about any outfit into the perfect transitioning piece–whether it be from fall to winter or winter to spring.
Since I’m pretty average in height (read: not tall), I wanted to make sure I didn’t drown in a longer line coat. So I paired my favorite skinny jeans and black platform booties to give me a little extra length. And while I think this coat would look fierce with a sleeveless top underneath for a more springy look, I stuck with my most loved tissue turtleneck (a serious game-changer for me this winter) to give me a little extra layer of warmth from the winds that blew into town this weekend.
And if you’re looking for more ways to style a sleeveless coat or longline vest, Hallie is an expert at it. I seriously haven’t met anyone else who does it better. Here, here, here.
I also love that this sleeveless coat comes with a cute tie around the waist to accentuate your shape. And it’s a great way to still give yourself a slimming look even unbuttoned. Just tie the straps in the back to cinch down the sides of your coat. A simple yet chic little trick, no?
And for a finishing touch, I added a fun statement clutch in a blue leopard print to play up the navy hues of this ensemble.
What about you? Have you tried the sleeveless silhouette yet?
