Tied with a Bow for Spring

As I’m writing this, there are weather reports of snow coming our way. Wamp wamp. While spring is supposedly on its way to us here in Boulder, I’m confident there will be more days like today that are cold, wet, and chanced with flurries. So to tide me over until warmer weather arrives, I’m sharing a fun new way to bring spring into your wardrobe with a neck scarf!

First off, let’s talk about this sweater. I love the exaggerated balloon sleeves paired with the accentuated waist and the crisp white color. It’s super flattering and gives personality to a classic closet staple. It’s also the perfect weight for spring–made out of cotton, which isn’t too heavy and breathes really well.

In fact I loved it so much, I also picked it up in the prettiest petal pink color.  Because as the saying goes, “If the shoe fits, buy one in every color.” 😛 Ha! Plus, it’s on super sale right now, which doesn’t happen very often with Anthropologie finds. At any rate, it will be one of those pieces on repeat this spring for sure!

It would be super flattering with high-waisted jeans given the cut of the sweater, but looks equally as good with mid-high jeans as styled here.

One of the trends that’s been going around this past year has been the neck scarf (last seen here) and I love that it’s popping up all over for spring too. Per the usual, Jess makes the trend look effortless and chic and I’ve tried to incorporate it more into my outfits using this guide by Julia. As a way to infuse a little spring into my wardrobe, I tried tying the neck scarf in a new way–in a girly, feminine bow!

This styling definitely requires a bit larger neck scarf to form the bow–these darling bandanas aren’t quite large enough. I picked up this silky yellow scarf at Banana Republic last season, but I’d be on the lookout for more cute options coming out as spring approaches. J. Crew usually comes out with reasonably priced options too! I’ve linked some cute options below if you are interested.

I love how new and fresh the look instantly became with just the addition of a bright yellow neck scarf. Everything seemed to really pop! For another bright spring touch, I couldn’t resist adding in this tulip pink clutch from Rebecca Minkoff, as well as a sparkly bracelet and simple gold accessories. No need for too much jewelry since the scarf is the main attraction!

I kept my shoes simple with these *perfect height* cognac heels in the prettiest suede fabric that are neutral enough to pair with anything! Sometimes I find that heels are less walk-able because of the heel height, but at 2 inches, these are perfect!
