Anyone who knows me knows that I love chocolate. The only person I’ve ever met that likes chocolate more than me is Allen. (That guy can put away a serious amount of chocolate in one sitting!!) It’s truly a wonder that we found each other! Ha! #matchmadinchocolate So together, you can imagine that we are quite the chocolate eating machines. Needless to say when we moved here nearly 2.5 years ago, if there was a good spot to find decadent dessert in Boulder, we knew we could surely find it.
Piece, Love & Chocolate is everything you could hope for and more in a chocolate shop. The inside and outside of the shop is slightly overdone with colorful decorations (year-round, I might add) which brings all your childhood fantasies of actually finding a place like Candy Land to reality. And the variety and decadence of chocolates offered there is astounding.
Allen and I frequent there probably once to twice a month (don’t judge). And our favorite thing to get is the Heavenly Heart in Decadent Chocolate. Yeah…it sounds super rich (and it definitely is!), but I promise you it is amazing. It’s a super moist fudgy dark chocolate cake dipped in a dark chocolate shell. It looks pretty tiny when you get it–about the size of your hand–but splitting it is usually about all I can handle because of the richness.
At any rate, it’s the perfect little dessert spot in Boulder if you want a sweet treat after lunch or dinner on Pearl Street (or just a sweet treat on its own 😉 ).
Since Allen and I rarely celebrate Valentine’s Day on the actual day (I’m nearly always busy with an assignment during the week), we thought it would be the perfect little mid-week treat to celebrate with, without taking away too much time from my work. (Don’t worry, we still plan to celebrate on Friday night with a date!)
For a Valentine’s inspired outfit that is still appropriate for the office, I went with a red tippi sweater from J. Crew (last seen here) and my new white wide-leg crop pants from Everlane (mentioned in The February Edit here). If you recall from my Summer 10×10 Challenge, I have a pair of dressier white wide-leg pants from Club Monaco, but I love that these Everlane ones are a bit more casual and perfect for everyday wear in an office that doesn’t require dressy clothing. Plus I can dress them down with a graphic tee on the weekends too. I’m all about that versatility!
I also added on a pair of fun leopard pumps and a bright red lip to kick the outfit up a notch! Sometimes it’s the little details that make an outfit feel extra special. No need to make things fussy when it’s not required!
Alright…now back to the chocolate!
Allen and I have our favorite (the Heavenly Heart) but every now and again we like to get out of our comfort zone and try something new. So we always start any visit with a look around the shop to see what other chocolate masterpieces they’ve created that day.
I mean…look at those amazingly delicious-looking cakes!!! The mini chocolate tiramisu was definitely calling our names…
And how adorable are the little pink ladybug chocolates above?! Oh my goodness! So cute!
Piece, Love & Chocolate has an incredible selection of handmade assorted chocolates, each one more beautiful and decadent than the last. If you can believe it, the ones shown above are simply a small snippet of the entire selection they have available on a daily basis. It’s truly incredible! (And quite mesmerizing to look at. Haha!)
They also have an exotic chocolate bar selection filled with unique and unusual chocolates from around the world. If you’re ever at a loss of what to get a friend who needs a quick pick-me-up in the middle of the week, these would make great little gifts to give!
On this particular day we went with a chocolate mouse cake and two handmade truffles. Yummmm. The little strawberry truffle was filled with strawberry chocolate filling and the pink ladybug was filled with raspberry truffle filling. And oh my goodness was everything ah-mazing!!
Perhaps my favorite part of going to Piece, Love & Chocolate is that you can eat your desserts right there. I’m all about taking dessert home to eat on occasion, but a lot of times it’s much nicer to sit down and enjoy your treat in the moment–to take a few minutes to chat and spend time enjoying the simple things (like chocolate) with the one you love. It makes the act of getting a sweet treat a special occasion, rather than an errand. I love that! And that’s really what this Boulder-local spot is all about. Enjoying the little things on an any given average day and making it special!
Love this guy so much! So glad he loves indulging in chocolate just as much as I do! 😛
And even if you don’t have an opportunity to stop into Piece, Love & Chocolate here in Boulder, I hope you find a little time on your Valentine’s Day to treat yourself to something sweet! You definitely deserve it!
What about you? Do you have a favorite dessert spot?
