Happy day, friends! The weather here in Boulder has been unbelievably beautiful. So Monday afternoon we decided to take a quick hike up Mt. Sanitas. Even before we started the hike, there was beautiful scenery all around us. like this unique rock formation. From a distance, the feature looks like a castle on a hilltop, especially when the setting sun illuminates it from behind.
We took the Mount Sanitas Trail up (approximately 1,300 feet elevation gain) and the East Ridge Trail down. Ironically, the Mount Sanitas Trail is more of a ridge way than the East Ridge Trail.
We love to hike! It’s a great way to get exercise and see beautiful views without too much exertion. Plus, fresh air and blood flow do wonders for clearing your mind and increasing productivity for work and school. Right? (That’s what we tell ourselves at least…)
There was lots of different terrain on the Mt. Sanitas trail. Nothing too difficult, but it’s nice to have varying rocks and things to climb that require different technical skills along the way. It keeps things interesting to say the least.
Made it to the top! The views from up there were pretty incredible, especially for it being on the shorter side of hikes.
He is just so much fun to share life with! Photographic proof that he lights up my life.
On our climb down the East Ridge Trail, we came across this really interesting-looking rock formation. And in true form, Allen just had to climb it.
I always love looking at the different plants and flowers and foliage along the trail. It’s something I picked up from Allen, discussed here. I seem to find something new each time we go for a hike. Here I found the tallest cat-tails I’ve ever seen. They were taller than me!
We had a great little hike up Mt. Sanitas on Monday, and I’m hoping we can make it more of a routine since it is on the shorter side of hikes around Boulder. Looking forward to the autumn season and the changing of leaves already starting to happen! Have a great day!
If you are interested, my weekend recaps here, here, and here.

October 20, 2015 at 9:47 pmThank you! Oh boy…snow is coming! Hahaha. It will be interesting to see what activities we end up doing between the sunny and snowy seasons. That transition period can be tricky. I’ve been very thankful for the nice weather so far!
