Happy post-turkey day festivities! Have you recovered from your food coma yet? I’m still in the process… Luckily I’ll have another plane ride to nap this one out.
Today I’m sharing a fall-inspired working outfit. When I first saw these pants in the store, I instantly fell in love with the color. Despite their orange color (gig ’em Aggies!), I thought they were the perfect shade for fall–bright yet warm in tone. For my sake, let’s just call them cayenne-colored, shall we?
I wanted to bring a school vibe to the working outfit, so I layered a camel sweater overtop a darker chambray button up. There’s just something about denim chambray that makes me feel like it’s August and I’m starting school all over again.
I love a layered look, don’t you? There’s something so put together about it, as if I spent some serious time planning it. And yet, this is such an easy look to put together if you’re in need of some inspiration. Just layer a solid-colored sweater over your favorite button up and you are good-to-go!
And actually right after I took these photos, I learned a really handy trick for layering sweaters in particular. If you wear one of these cami’s in between the button up and sweater, the button up won’t bunch underneath the sweater (as you can see happened a bit here). Genius, no? I learned it from Fran. So I’ll have to let you know how it works out the next time. But I’m all about tricks that keep the frumpiness of an outfit down.
I completed the look with a cognac leather purse, chocolate pumps, and some sparkle around the collar. Easy pizey for a work day outfit, no?
What about you? Have you tried the layered look?
