Happy Christmas week, friends! Are you ready for the celebrations to commence? I know I am!
If you’ve got a holiday party to go to, I’ve found the perfect party dress for you! This sparkle dot dress from J. Crew Factory is spectacular and the best part? It can be worn year-round and is appropriate for work too, so you get the most bang for your buck.
If you haven’t noticed, I tend to invest in pieces that I can wear both to work and dressed up for special events and date nights, or dressed down for more casual wear. And this dress is no exception!
The cut of this dress is very flattering and I love that it’s not too tight or constricting. Because who doesn’t tend to eat a little more during the holidays? (The food is just too good not to, no?) And the dot pattern in a sparkly metallic color is the perfect update to a classic print that looks great on everyone. In my opinion, the polka dot is the next best thing to stripes–which we can all agree is a closet staple when it comes to my wardrobe.
I love that this dress is work appropriate but can transition seamlessly to a party with the addition of some festive heels and the pop of a cork. A simple yet versatile piece to own!
To make this dress party ready, I added my favorite color of the season…red! And while we traditionally think of candy apple red as the color of the season, I really love how the deeper burgundy of this cardigan looked a bit more dressed up and less costume-like. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ugly sweater contest (love this one here), but I wanted to look really classy with this more sophisticated party look.
For a no-fuss holiday party hairstyle, I chose a low curly ponytail. I actually put half my hair up with this gorgeous, gold barrette and then pulled the rest back with a hair tie. I love how it gives it that layered look and also helps to preserve some of the volume that can be lost when a simple ponytail falls mid-way through a party. Does that happen to you too? At any rate, this little trick is a simple way to elevate your hair game (pun intended) without getting too fancy.
I’m wearing more subtle jewelry with this look–to keep the focus on the fun sparkly print of the dress. So pieces like this necklace and bracelet are the perfect addition. Throw in some sparkling apple cider or champagne as a hostess gift and you are ready to go!
And don’t forget to add in your most festive heels. My favorites are these red suede pumps. I love that they are nice and bright but also comfortable, which is a must for a night full of dancing and fun.
What about you? Have you picked out your perfect party dress for the season?
