Hi, friends! And happy Fri-yay! I am so glad it’s the end of the week. You too?
When it comes to changing seasons here in Colorado, sprinttime tends to come out of winter hibernation a bit more slowly than in other parts of the country. Case in point, we had a snow storm last week…in April! (Feeling like my friends in Chicago can relate. — I’m looking at you, Hallie. 🙂 )
So today I’m sharing a simple casual look that is perfect for this tricky transition time between winter and spring, when it’s still a bit too chilly for sundresses but also too warm for turtlenecks and winter coats.
Since moving to Colorado from south Texas last fall, my biggest investment has been in bulking up my sweater collection (pun intended). It is sweaters, after all, that you wear on a daily basis here in the winter. One of my favorite styles I’ve invested in is the J. Crew Tippi sweater. I love that it’s made with merino wool to keep me warm without being itchy and it comes in sooo many colors. ALL the colors. And you guys know how I like love color.
I’m also a huge fan of the 3/4 sleeve length because it makes wearing the sweater in multiple seasons (fall-winter-spring) a breeze. And typically even when it’s super cold outside, the office is kept at a nice enough temperature for mid-length sleeves to be perfect throughout the day.
I’ve got the Tippi sweater in the traditional black that indeed goes with everything. But I also made sure to invest in some brighter options, like this neon watermelon color (on sale!), the yellow one (last seen here), and most recently, the prettiest berry melange color. How many is too many? 😉
For a causal chic look that is super simple to put together, I added my favorite distressed denim and a leopard statement clutch (this one is a steal!). I’ve always lusted after the iconic Clare V. clutch (someday!), so when I found this Vera Bradley wallet on sale over Christmas, I knew it was the perfect statement piece for casual attire.
And to add a little spring to my outfit, I threw on a fun sunhat and bright red sandals. I got this pair last season, but they were so popular that J. Crew and Old Navy brought them back this year.
Don’t you love how adding a little pop of color to an outfit can completely change its mood? Adding in bright, bold pieces like this sweater and these sandals are how I’m dressing for spring when it’s still chilly here in Colorado.
What about you? Do you have a favorite spring sweater?
