Last weekend was my first time exploring the downtown Houston area, and I couldn’t be more excited that it started in the grand Museum District. It was so much fun to pack my bag for the day and just spend all weekend immersing myself in the culture and arts there. I started by visiting the Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday and finished up at the Museum of Natural Science on Sunday. I tried a couple new restaurants in the area as well, and found the most decadent chocolate cake you’ve ever seen. I justified it as an early birthday treat. 😉
In addition to my weekend adventures, I turned another year older on Tuesday (see my thoughts on the upcoming year here). I had a super low key birthday this year since I celebrated with family a few weekends back. But keeping it low key and somewhat under the radar was exactly what I wanted. I spent the evening at a new-to-me restaurant in River Oaks with some of my best girl friends from my days back in Kappa Delta at Texas A&M.
This next weekend, I’m so excited to continue exploring the Houston area with a trip into Sugar Land on Saturday and a coffee tour of sorts through the downtown area on Sunday. Other than that, I’m looking forward to staying dry inside as more storms blow through Houston this weekend. What about you? Have any exciting plans this weekend?! Here are a few of the little things that brightened my week.
— Contemplating art at the Museum of Fine Arts. —
— An early birthday treat in the Museum District. —
— A silly installation at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. —
— One of the best salads I’ve ever had. —
— Waiting for the stars to come out after a peaceful, perfect summer night on my birthday. —
