When beginning any day adventure in Louisville, Colorado, a stop at Moxie Bread Co. goes without saying. Moxie Bread Co. is known for their hearty, rustic-baked breads and flakey, French pastries. I usually start my day here with a fresh blueberry kouign amann and a “Moxie On The Rocks ” latte. For those a bit more adventurous, I’d recommend the lox tartine which offers the perfect blend of colors and flavors for an early morning start.
For me (and most likely you), the biggest problem you’ll face at Moxie is deciding on just one thing to try. I never make it out of there without two or three pastries in tow. And yet while the options are limitless, it’s nearly impossible to go wrong with any choice you make.
I sometimes throw in a warm baked almond chocolate chip cookie for a late afternoon snack too. But who’s counting?!
And while I could talk for dayssss about Moxie’s pasteries, my most favorite thing about this special spot is its small town charm. From its mix-and-match décor of vintage chairs to its hand-picked crew of artisan bakers and resident coffee gurus, there’s just something so special and genuine about each visit I make to this local favorite.
I could sit in here for hours with nothing but a great cup of coffee (several pastries in hand) and my lingering thoughts on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
As for my outfit of choice on weekend get-aways, I’ve found that easy sundresses have become my go-to attire this summer. There’s just something so perfect about a simple dress that feels more put-together than jeans and a tee, while also still incredibly comfortable (and oh-so breezy for those unbearably hot summer days). I especially love this swingy trapeze dress in the prettiest pale blue plaid print. It had me twirling and whirling throughout the town all day!
For dresses that may hang a little lower than I’d like, I love adding in a sweet element of lace by layering bralettes underneath. Here, I’ve added this one in the prettiest shade of sky blue to give the dress dimension and flair! Sometimes it’s the little details that make all the difference.
I kept my accessories simple with a cognac tote bag, my favorite wedge sandals, and a wrist-full of fun layered bracelets from Eleanor.
I know what you’re thinking. “That’s a lot of kouign-Amman, Kristin!” What can I say? A girl has to eat! And these pastries are seriously the best around. I promise I shared these with the rest of the crew after the photo shoot. Maybe. 😉
In case you don’t know what kouign-Amman is, I’ve found a great description here. (I didn’t know what it was either!) Think: layers and layers of thin, flaky dough with lots of butter and sugar between each layer. It’s a time intensive pastry to make that packs a lot of sweet, caramelized sugar and butter into every bite. My kind of breakfast! Yours too?! Can’t wait to hear what you think after trying them at Moxie Bread Co. this weekend!
