Good morning, friends! Guess what?! It is officially fall here in Boulder and I couldn’t be more excited!
So today I thought it would be more than fitting to share a classically fall outfit with you, including a special giveaway with one of my absolute favorite fall accessories! Read on to find out more!
If you’ve been following along with my most recent style posts (namely, here and here) you know I’m a huge fan of plaid and flannel, especially in the fall. So it’s only natural that my classic fall outfit would include one, right?
I just got this white and blue flannel shirt and I am in LOVE. It’s so unbelievably soft and comfy, and at $35 is very affordable. (I’ve had a crush on this almost identical button up for a few years now.)
Most of my flannel shirts have lots of colors in them, so this one in a more neutral color adds nice variety to my arsenal and can be styled in a seemingly infinite number of ways. (I’ll be pairing it with this plaid skirt for work next.)
My next most worn piece in the fall has got to be this puffer vest. I own far too many of these to admit here on the blog, but I just picked up this rust colored one in the most recent J.Crew sale. (I also picked up this plaid one too. Oops!)
But back to the beautiful rusty orange-red color of this vest for a moment… If you know me and my family, you know we are avid OU fans, and I myself went to Texas A&M. That being said, we all are ferociously against anything orange (saw ’em off!). But the warm rusty color this season is too perfect a fall color (and so on trend) for me to ignore.
So why don’t we just call it rust (not burnt orange) and all be in love with it! (I also picked up this rust colored sleeveless sweater earlier this season.)
Next up…boots! Fall wouldn’t be fall without a classic pair of leather riding boots. I’ve had these Frye Melissa Button boots in dark brown leather for a few seasons now and can’t recommend them enough!
I’ve also got a pair of Steve Madden boots in a more caramely cognac color that I’ve had since high school (last seen here). And as for my next pair of boots, I’m thinking about investing in these Frye Dorado boots in the whisky color. Love how Julia styled them here with these classic corduroys.
And speaking of pants…
A great pair of dark wash skinny jeans is a must for fall (goes perhaps without even saying). My favorite pair from college finally bit the dust (I wore them practically every other day), so I just recently picked up this pair from Gap and love the shorter ankle length that hits perfectly above the tops of booties.
And for the perfect finishing touch (and the most recent addition to my fall wardrobe), a classic wooden watch!
It doesn’t get much more classic fall than this wooden watch. I love how earthy and rugged the look of the watch is. It takes me straight outdoors every time I wear it, which is definitely a plus for someone who works in a cubicle every day. I chose the Fieldcrest Series in Zebrawood and Maple here, but there are tons and tons of women’s watches and men’s watches to choose from.
Allen loves the Dover Series in Zebrawood and Dark Sandalwood, and I’m thinking it would be the perfect Christmas gift for him! He’s so outdoorsy, so I think it would fit into his aesthetic seamlessly. Plus, he loves seeing the inner gizmos and gears of a watch (see the Dover Series). And as a fellow engineer, I have to agree it’s pretty darn cool!
And guess what, guys?! I’ve got a special surprise for all my readers today!
I’m so excited to be teaming up with JORD Wood Watches (today through November 13th) to give one lucky winner $75 toward the purchase of their very own wooden watch! And there’s more! Every single person who enters automatically gets a $20 coupon towards their next purchase–so really everyone is a winner! All you have to do is fill out the form here and that’s it! So, so easy, no?
Which wooden watch is your favorite? I’d love to know!
And even more than the unique and artistic look of each watch they make, I support the mission and ultimate goal of the JORD Wood Watches company.
One of the things that struck me most about JORD Wood Watches was their commitment to the experience.
We make our watches for people who don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go.
The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time.
I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t be more behind this philosophy. Dreamer. Explorer. Designer of my life. That’s how I want to feel every minute of every day, and JORD Wood Watches believes in this too.
Living in the moment, enjoying the little things, and not being preoccupied with the weights of the world…those are some of the things I struggle most with in my stressful, hectic schedule. But learning to be present and to be an active participant in my own life is something I strive for on a daily basis.
And after learning about JORD Wood Watches‘ dedication to enhancing this experience, seeing the watch on my wrist is a daily reminder of this belief, and of the commitment I should be making to myself and my life.
So take an extra minute or two today to enjoy everything you have going for you in your life! Even in the worst of times, we have so much! Today I encourage you to kick up your feet, get excited, and live in this beautiful moment we have. For we are going places, friends! We are the dreamers and designers of our futures.
Here’s to a happy Tuesday and a happy life, friends!
And don’t forget to enter the giveaway here for your very own wooden watch!
What about you? What moments are you living up today?
