Merry Christmas Eve Eve, friends! I hope this post finds you close with family (or on your way to them very soon!). Christmas is always such a special time for me and my family, and some of my favorite traditions happen on Christmas Eve. So today I thought I’d share a few of my favorite traditions and what I’ll be wearing for Christmas Eve church service this year.
It seems like the Christmas season goes by much too fast every year, so this year I’m trying to soak up as much of the feelings and traditions as I can. Christmas Eve in particular is one of my favorite days of the season. It’s usually spent cozied up with family, Christmas movies playing in the background, and warm hot cocoa in hand.
The evening is when the real magic happens though! (And no, I’m not talking about Santa Clause coming to town. 😉 )
Christmas Eve church service has always been such a special (and essential) part of our holiday traditions. Every year we travel downtown for the candle light service at Boston Avenue. And I can honestly say it’s one of the most magical parts of the season. Ending the service singing in harmony with your neighbor and nothing but the flames of candle light filling the room is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s the sights and sounds of this time that remind me of the true reason for the season.
After church, we bustle into the warm seats of our car and drive around town to look at the Christmas lights. All the while, quietly pondering everything we have to be thankful for this season, as church hymns softly play in the background. It truly is one of the most magical times of the year!
As for my Christmas Eve church attire, I wanted to go with something classic yet modern. And these sailor button dress pants fit the bill perfectly. I love the wide leg cut almost as much as the darling button details. And the material is nice and flowy when you walk, so you know it has my name written all over it.
I went with a bright red sweater to make the look feel extra warm and Christmas-y.
I live in these Tippi sweaters during the winter. They come in so many colors and can be styled in a number of ways–with a skirt, with jeans, and with dress pants here.
I paired the look with my favorite gold accessories–a sparkly bracelet, a classic watch, and the cutest gold necklace. I also wore these fun gold bow pumps for a flirty fun touch.
I love how this outfit came together, but even more than that, I love what this season represents and getting to share it with friends and family. Christmas Eve is but a small part of the holiday season, but it’s one that speaks to my heart and is genuine through and through to the holiday spirit.
I hope you and your family have the merriest of Christmases and enjoy the season to its fullest!
What about you? Do you have any favorite Christmas Eve traditions?
