When Allen and I took a road trip to Telluride a couple weekends back, I knew I needed to bring lots of warm cozy layers for the colder temperatures. And this taupe mockneck sweater was first in my picks of what to bring.
This taupe sweater is oh-so cozy and soft (not itchy one bit!), and the mockneck detail is not only on trend this season, but keeps your neck warm from the elements.
I layered an easy tissue tshirt underneath for extra comfort and ease. This one is the crewneck counterpart to my favorite tissue turtleneck–last seen here–and I love it!
As for footwear, I swear by these UGG snowboots. I’ve had mine for several years now and don’t have a single complaint with them. They’re not only waterproof but have a warm inner lining that keep your toes nice and toasty. And they come in so many colors now too! I’ve got my eye on the brown pair once these need replacing.
And no winter exploring outfit is complete without a cute faux fur pom-pom beanie on top! I found this one at Target and love how perfectly the colors matched my sweater. The extra chunky knit of the hat just makes me want to cozy up under a blanket too!
I paired everything with my favorite pair of skinny jeans and cozy camping socks. For nights that are particularly chilly, I add on this base layer underneath my jeans to keep my legs from freezing. And over top, I add on a warm winter coat or shell (or both in one!) to block out the wind and keep me extra warm. (Trading out the tissue tee for this base layer top also doesn’t hurt!)
Overall it was the best, warmest outfit for exploring downtown Telluride with Allen and it’s definitely one I’ll keep in mind for future adventures this winter.
What about you? What do you wear for city exploring outside in the winter?
