I find that as we get increasingly closer and closer to spring, my wardrobe makes a considerable shift towards lighter pastels and more feminine color palettes. I guess it’s just my wishful thinking of warmer temps and the blossoming of flowers that creeps into my subconscious choice of clothing. And today’s berry sorbet-inspired look is no exception to this.
You all know by now that I have a serious love of bright bold colors together (here and here, for example). So for this berrylicious look I layered shades upon shades of pinks and purples to create a dreamy combination of springtime colors that is both bold and feminine.
This lilac skirt is one of the prettiest colors I’ve ever seen and it will make the perfect foundation for many outfit combinations this spring. It’s the perfect shade of pink-purple that is girly enough without being explicitly bubblegum pink. I contrasted its color with a deep purple sequin shirt (that I’ve had since high school). It’s an oldie-but-goodie for sure! I’ve linked similar ones below.
I’ve found over the years that having a wide variety of colorful basic tees makes putting new outfits together so easy! With just a quick change in color, a tee can completely change a look.
For a bright pop of color, I layered a bold coral coat over top with fun fuchsia accessories like this purse (also an oldie-but-so-goodie, last seen here and here) and these new suede pumps that I’m obsessed with (a Christmas gift from my Aunt!).
As for jewelry, I love getting mine from the Crew Cuts section of J. Crew. I mean…this necklace was just too perfectly matching not to pair with this outfit, right? I love how it adds a whimsical almost playful vibe to the whole look. I guess borrowing your jewelry inspiration from the kids section will do that. 😉 No shame here!
Playing with color in my wardrobe has really opened my eyes to the creative side of fashion. And while I seem to veer towards more neutral color palates in the winter, this spring will be all about the pretty pinks, light lavenders, and crisp whites. So why not get a jump on these feminine colors during the transition!?
What about you? What colors are you craving for spring?
