Hi, friends! Today I’m excited to share Look 13 of the Spring 10×10 Challenge. Now in full disclosure, I did not wear this outfit today. During finals week, all bets are off! Haha! But I did wear this exact same look a few weeks ago and wanted to share it with you as another option using only my 10 pieces. Why not, right?! It’s a simple outfit formula (skirt + tee) with a little extra styling for a pop of color!
If you’ve been following along on this challenge for very long, it probably comes as no surprise that this skirt has been one of the best new purchases I’ve made this year. I knew after wearing this dark denim skirt sooo much last summer, that I should probably add something similar in a different color for this year. And this white denim skirt fit the bill perfectly! No regrets here. (See the last time I wore this skirt here.)
At first, I was worried about how it would hold up in the wash since it has an unfinished raw hem, but I’ve already cleaned it a few times (remember the blood debacle last week) and it’s held up perfectly well! I just make sure to wash it in cold water inside a delicates bag and hang it up to dry, rather than using the dryer. I can be a little paranoid about destroying clothes in the washer/dryer, so I’m sure you could go harder on it if you feel comfortable. But like I said, I’ve washed mine a few times already and it’s holding up wonderfully!
For today’s look I kept it simple by pairing this white skirt with a basic vneck tee (in my favorite blush color for spring). Now to be honest with you, I was initially smitten with the color palette I chose for my 10×10 Challenge picks–think white, beige, and blush with pops of red and teal. It all seemed to work beautifully together! But after wearing only those items for 2…3 weeks now, I’m starting to wish I had a little more variety to work with. Enter in a style trick I don’t use often enough–the lightweight scarf!
Adding on a lightweight scarf to your look is the perfect way to add a little color without the weight of a full jacket, and in this case, really makes the outfit pop! I love how before the scarf, this outfit was just a simple skirt + tee look. But with the scarf, it feels so much more vibrant and glamorous, doesn’t it?! (Perhaps it’s the sunglasses too, but I feel like I need to take a ride in a 50’s convertible or something–like this! 😉 )
For accessories, I paired the look with a mint crossbody bag to play up the pink and mint color palette, and threw on my comfiest flats for walking in. Add on a warm cardigan for the chilly office, and you’ve got yourself a great springtime outfit! And if you’re office is a little more professional, this look would make a fantastic weekend look as well.
And that’s my Day 13 look of the Spring 10×10 Challenge. Only one more look to go, friends and then I’ll wrap up the challenge with my thoughts and lessons learned. Sound good?!
