Hi, friends! I hope you had an amazing weekend and a happy Mother’s Day. Today is an exciting day for the blog! Oh my goodness do I have some excited news to share with you!! I have been bursting at the seams to tell you for a week or so now. But the time has finally arrived!
This Wednesday, May 17th I will be hosting an event at my local J. Crew store in the Flatirons Mall from 6-8pm. There will be cupcakes and fizzy soda, and all the dreamy new arrivals to oogle and awe at. I am just so, so, SO excited for this opportunity! And I would absolutely love to see you there and to finally meet you all in person if you’re in the Boulder/Denver area!
If you’ve been following me for very long, you know that I have been a lover of all things J.Crew for a while now. And with or without this ah-mazing opportunity, you know I would be wearing and loving their pieces regardless. So I just feel so incredibly lucky (and humbled!) and insanely blessed to be partnering up with a brand I genuinely love, recommend, and call my favorite. (I have the most exciting pitter-patter in my chest right now even as I type this!)
In anticipation (and excitement!) for the event happening next Wednesday, I’ve decided to style three J.Crew summer-inspired looks that I’ll share with you this week. (The new arrivals are seriously going to be so good, friends. Trust me on this one!) And just to be open and honest with you, these three outfits posts are in no way sponsored by J. Crew. I purchased all of these pieces on my own simply because I loved them! So know you are getting 100% Kristin when you see these looks! 😉 Ok, so let’s jump into this first look that I have fallen completely head-over-heels for!
If there is one print/color/pattern I can’t resist it’s got to be a colorful floral print. So when I saw this J. Crew Liberty Floral material, I knew it would be coming home with me. But which piece to get?! This fun ruffly top? These adorable bow tie shorts? Or this beachy sundress?! I mean…they’re all so good, no?!
And just found out they make the cutest shoes too! (Uh oh…I’m in trouble!)
At any rate, I started off by getting this seriously amazing ruffly top because I knew it would be the most versatile piece to own. It can be styled for work with a pencil skirt (or jeans on a Friday), but also styled with denim shorts or a colorful skirt on the weekends.
Going forward from the Spring 10×10 Challenge, I’ve been on a lifestyle change as of sorts where I’m trying to be more intentional with the pieces I add to my wardrobe. Mindful fashion–a type of less is more philosophy. So I’ve been extremely cognizant about adding only items that I know I will get tons of wear out of and can style lots of different ways (and in many different scenarios, i.e. work and/or out). I also only want pieces that I know are good quality, will stand the test of time, and won’t go out of style next season. Luckily with J. Crew items, I know I don’t have to worry about quality and durability. Plus, their shapes, silhouettes, and patterns are classics enough to stand the test of time (read: won’t go out of style) but with fun, modern takes that keep them fresh and upbeat. (Again, not sponsored! This is just how I genuinely feel about the brand.)
But guys, once I tried the top on, I was in love. I honestly don’t know if I’ve found a more perfect, beautiful top in my life. And it’s not just one thing I love about the top. It’s every-thing! The cut is perfect, the ruffle detailing is elegant, and the floral print…well it’s just drop dead gorgeous in person. And so, so colorful! Yessss! If there was one thing that almost made me “cheat” on my Spring 10×10 Challenge, it was definitely wanting to wear this top so badly!
Long story short, I loved the top so much I went back for the bow tie shorts (which I’m planning on pairing with a classic black and white striped top next). And you know what?! I have zero regrets about it. (Except that maybe I need the dress now too? 😛 )
And since being recently smitten with the matching sets trend, I thought…Why not pair the two together to make a summertime romper look?! Perfection, guys. Just perfection! A floral romper?! Yes, please! After shooting this look with Noah, I couldn’t stop wearing this one for the rest of the day.
A quick note on the fit of these pieces, I usually wear somewhere between a 2-4/small in tops, a 2 in skirts, and a 4 in shorts/pants at J. Crew. The top runs a little small, so the 4 fits me perfectly! (Size 4 is usually just a little big on me, but Size 2 is sometimes not big enough for me in the chest/arms). And the shorts run small, so order a size up! (I’m wearing a Size 6 here.)
This is such a fun look, and I’d wear this out to dinner with Allen, running errands on the weekend, shopping at the farmers market on Saturday, or even to the office with a colorful cardigan. Versatility, like I said! So many good options. And while I won’t be with my mom on Mother’s Day ( so sad! 🙁 ), this would definitely be a top notch contender for brunch out with the family! (P.S. – My sweet momma is coming into town next week to help me move for the summer and will be at the event if you want to meet her! 😉 She’s the best! )
Don’t forget to come meet me this Wednesday after work for cupcakes and new arrivals at my local J. Crew store! I cannot wait to meet you all and to have fun styling all the pretty new items for summer! Also, feel free to share this with anyone you may know in the area too! The more, the merrier! Here are all the details!
What about you? What is your favorite print/color/pattern for summer? And will I see you on Wednesday?! Let me know so I can get a cupcake ready for ya!
