Hi hi! And happy almost weekend, friends! Today I’m sharing a fun, summer-inspired casual Friday look that incorporates a favorite color palette of mine–blush pink and yellow. I wore this combination a lot in the spring but am happy to take it right into the summer as well. What can I say? When something feels right, don’t fight it!
File this outfit under combinations that w-o-r-k! Classic tee + cardigan + jeans. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. A tried and true formula that hasn’t let me down yet!
This casual Friday look is quite similar to this look in my Spring 10×10 series, but with a few notable changes.
Firstly, I swapped out my beige cardigan for a bright yellow one that screams summertime happy. I love how a change in cardigan color can completely alter how an outfit feels, and it’s probably my most used trick for making my wardrobe feel much larger than it actually is.
For instance, I paired this blush tee with a beige cardigan and cognac accessories for a boho vibe in the spring (here). Today, I’ve paired it with bright yellow and pops of pinks for a light hearted feminine look. And for something different, I could also pair the blush tee with a deep red cardigan for a more romantic feeling look, or even with a green cardigan (similar to this look) for a bright punch of color. So many options, no?
Next, I swapped out my brown accessories–a chunky pair of clog wedges and classic crossbody–for the prettiest (the prettiest!) rose suede flats and bubblegum pink purse.
P.S. – Can we take a moment to swoon over these suede mules. If I could claim a favorite shade of pink…this gorgeous rose color would be it! These beauties are the perfect shade of warm blush that just make you want to smile. Needless to say, I’ve got serious heart eyes for them. And it doesn’t hurt they they have serious appeal in the walkability department. (Flats for the win!)
As for this purse…I’m sure you’ve begun to notice a trend in my choice of bags lately–boxy crossbodies. I have a few from Gap/Old Navy–this red one, this brown one, this black one–and two from J. Crew–this teal one and the pink one here! #sorrynotsorry This style is super practical and holds the perfect amount of things for the every day. And the crossbody style means you can carry it while keeping your hands free (my only gripe about clutches).
And finally, I swapped out dark skinny jeans with these adorable button front jeans in a cropped hem length (similar here). Cropped jeans are the prefect way to “summer-ize” your jeans, and the high-waisted silhouette is super flattering for tucking tops into. (In fact, it’s really the only way I feel comfortable tucking shirts in…for now 🙂 ) P.S. – Julia is the queen of tucking basic tees into jeans and making it look effortlessly chic, and I’m constantly taking notes on how she does it!
Easy, breezy, summertime Friday wear with my favorite no-fail formula.
What about you? How are you dressing for casual Fridays in the summertime? Sticking with the basics or changing things up?
