Hi friends! Summertime has definitely arrived! It’s 90 degrees here on the East Coast as I’m typing this and hot hot hot! Today I’m excited to share with you the look I wore to my J. Crew meet-and-greet event in Boulder last month. And it’s the perfect little number to dress up for work or down for a date night this summer.
P.S. I just wanted to take another moment to thank everyone who came out to the event! It was so so SO fun eating cupcakes and chi-chatting together as we browsed all the pretty new arrivals (and despite the rain/hail storm!). And I just appreciate and love each and every one of you who came out to support me at my very first event! We are actually thinking of doing another one for back-to-school in the fall, so let me know if that would be something you are interested in!
Ok, now let’s get into this bright pineapple print outfit that I’m loving for summer!
You guys know me…I’m all about bright colorful patterns in the summer. So this pineapple print ruffle top really spoke to me when I was picking out something to wear at the event from the new arrivals. Not only do I love the pink and teal print, but I love love love the ruffly silhouette. It’s super fun and playful and flowy–just what I want in a summer top! And super flattering to boot!
And if you are as smitten with this pineapple print as I am, it also comes in a gorgeous skirt (that I almost chose to wear with this pineapple sequin tee) or this beautiful summer sundress!
Have you noticed how on trend pineapple prints have been this season? It’s not a trend I just have to have in my life, but when the colors, fabric, and cut of the top are this good, it’s a piece I just couldn’t pass up! (P.S. – The top is made out of a lightweight, breezy cotton material and is machine washable–yay!)
In keeping with my commitment to be more intentional with the clothing I add into my wardrobe, I made sure to choose something I would actually wear in my real life and not simply something that would make a statement one time at the event (and then never be worn again). It also had to pass the test of 1) being practical to care for (machine washable, check!), 2) of being incorporated/paired with pieces I already own in my existing wardrobe, and 3) of styling for wear in multiple settings (work, play, etc.). And that is definitely the case for this pineapple print top!
Here I’ve styled it with a golden yellow cardigan, but at the event I actually styled it with this pretty purple sweater. And that’s another great thing about this top!–it can be paired with so many different colors! I was naturally drawn to pairing the pink and teal with yellow because yellow is my go-to color to brighten things up! But there are also light blue and dark indigo brush strokes in the pineapple print (if you look close enough) that lend it to being paired with just about any color in the rainbow.
For a semi-casual look, I paired the top with crisp white jeans, a great pair of cognac wedges for summer, and a bright pink purse for a pop of color. It just brightens up the entire look, don’t you think? This would be a great date night look or even a fantastic casual Friday outfit for the office. And while I typically choose to wear tops over my shoulders for the sheer convenience and comfort of it, this top can also be worn as a dainty off the shoulder top as well!
And sparkly details like this crystal bracelet and this adorable pineapple charm necklace polish the outfit to perfection and give it a fun summery vibe!
Other ways I would style this top? Next I’m thinking about styling it with a colorful pencil skirt at the office or with my favorite white denim skirt (last seen here and here) on the weekend for a beach day. You could just as easily style it with a classic pair of shorts for weekend errands as well!
