Today I’m excited to share more photos from Kemah Boardwalk in Houston, Texas with this pretty lavender pleated maxi dress that is perfect for date night or weekend brunch with the girls.
It’s no secret to those close to me that I LOVE purple. It’s easily my favorite color. Light shades…dark shades…redder tones…bluer tones, they are all beautiful to me!
So it comes as no surprise that I would have fallen head over heels for this pretty lavender maxi dress that has the most magical flowy-ness when you walk. Needless to say, it makes me feel a bit like a princess when I’m wearing it.
Pleated dresses are such a great summer staple to have because they can be dressed up for date night or styled down more casually for daytime wear. And in general, pleated materials are great at draping over your curves seamlessly without hugging you too tight. It’s one of those forgiving materials I can get fully behind …especially when big meals are involved! 😉
This particular dress is from many years ago (and I’m not even sure of the brand!). But simple maxi dresses are fairly easy to come by in the spring and summer months, and can even be styled right into fall with the right colors. So I wanted to share how I would style this dress using a few simple pieces I (and likely you) already own!
First up, I love to add simple gold jewelry–like this pendant necklace and this chain bracelet–that keep the look feeling pretty and feminine. Next, I add on a little height with my favorite tan wedges that are so, soooo comfortable (last styled here). And finally, I layer on a light wash jean jacket that is more casual and laid back feeling than a cardigan but still provides warmth if you get cold!
I also added in a pretty pastel pink clutch that pairs perfectly with the light lavender dress and baby blue of the jean jacket. It gives the look a sweeter more glowy feel, don’t you think?
It’s the perfect breezy look to wear for brunch on the boardwalk in the summertime. And it’s one that isn’t overly complicated to put together!
What about you? Have you ever styled a pleated maxi dress? Did you dress it up or style it down?
