Hi, friends! Today I’m sharing my go-to Fall uniform and how to spice it up with a fun faux fur leopard vest that is just as cozy as it is chic.
You may remember me raving about this sweater a couple springs ago here. Well I’m here to tell you, perhaps unsurprisingly, that I’m still a huge fan of the J. Crew Tippi sweater, which is a lightweight merino wool sweater that is the perfect transitional piece for fall or spring (and even in winter). Not only is it the perfect weight of fabric (read: not too heavy and not too light), but it has 3/4 sleeves (which I love because you don’t have to worry about always rolling up your sleeves) and always comes in tons and tons of colors. I have the red (here), the yellow (here), a pretty seafoam green one, and a navy one with gold stars (here).
In fact, I’m so much a fan that it’s quickly become my go-to uniform of sorts come cooler temperatures in fall. And one that lasts all the way through spring.
Here I’ve styled the maroon sweater with a classic pair of skinny jeans and black over-the-knee boots for a look that will never go out of style (and is comfortable to boot!).
I’m also wearing my first Kendra Scott pendant necklace in the prettiest bordeaux color–a sweet just-because present from my momma! (Thank you, mom! I love it!) It’s the perfect color to be paired with anything in my fall wardrobe (creamy whites, rust oranges, crisp blacks) and the length is adjustable, so I can wear it long or short depending on how I’m feeling! It will also transition perfectly into the Christmas season with bright reds, whites, and greens. I can’t wait!
Since getting this maroon pendant necklace, I’ve been eyeing the beautiful crushed gold mica one as well. Would it not make the perfect gift for anyone special on your list?! 😉
As I’ve been talking about more and more here on the blog, I’ve been trying to slow down my spending habits and to be more mindful of the things I add to my wardrobe. That has manifested itself in mixing and matching what I have in new ways to create fresh, new-feeling outfits.
That being said, I still will purchase the occasional new item if I feel it is a timeless piece I can seamlessly add into my wardrobe and wear season and season again.
Such was the case for this beautiful faux fur leopard vest. (P.S. – You all know I am a sucker for all J. Crew things.)
I was initially hesitant to purchase it because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to incorporate it into my wardrobe in enough ways to justify the purchase. But once I got it in and started playing with the different outfit combinations I could create, I knew it would be staying with me.
Here I’ve styled the leopard fur vest over a maroon sweater, and I LOVE the result. But you could just as easily layer it over any solid colored sweater or turtleneck you already own. I also loved how the rich chestnut browns and golds of the leopard print perfectly matched the golden colors of the fall leaves here in Denver. So very fall!
For another styling option, you could layer this fun animal print over stripes, like this black striped turtleneck. In fact, that outfit was a runner up to this one here that I’ve featured today, and would be a lovely holiday look with black or dark colored jeans and pops of red.
Or you could layer this vest over a chambray button-up for a chic weekend errands look that is comfortable the whole day through. The options are endless, and you can totally customize it to your own aesthetic with the pieces you already own. Did I mention that it is insanely soft too?! And would also be a great layering piece under your wool coat on super chilly nights this winter.
Needless to say…I found tons of ways to style it and so it’s become a fun statement piece in my fall wardrobe that I can’t wait to wear again and again!
What about you? How would you style a leopard vest?
