Alright, friends! Are you ready for one last Fall-inspired look before I dive head-first into the holidays here on the blog?! (Get ready…because I’ve got tons of amazing holiday looks coming your way very soon! Yayy!)
But before we get into those, today I’m sharing a fun orange and black outfit that is sure to put you in the mood for a long stroll through the changing leaves of your city. And I promise, it’s one that isn’t too “Halloween-y”, if you know what I mean.
Going into this Fall season, one of my goals was to be more real with you on the blog and to share outfits that I would actually wear in real life. And this outfit in particular is one I would wear on an average day for school or research. (Remember, my office is likely a bit more casual than yours at a 9-5 since I’m a graduate student.) But this casual look could be worn on the weekends or over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday just as well!
I love that it’s simple and classic and yet completely comfortable for a full day’s activities.
Let’s talk about two aspects of this outfit that I really love.
Firstly, I love mixing patterns when I can. And so the mix of stripes with plaid really speaks to me here. (When in doubt, always mix a pattern with stripes! I have yet to find an instance where that rule fails.) P.S. – Apparently this isn’t the first time I’ve tried this combination–see this look and this look!
And secondly, I love the mix of black and brown neutrals. It’s a concept I’ve been playing with a lot this season (see here and here) and one I don’t see tiring of anytime soon. I’m honestly a little shocked I haven’t tried mixing these colors sooner, because it feels so natural to me now.
I also love how the oranges and browns of the scarf seem to really bring out the warmer, richer tones in the cognac boots and belt. Almost as if the three were made to be paired together.
This outfit is definitely one I would consider to be a favorite go-to combination this season. And one which you could repeat with slightly different color variations on the top and scarf.
One note about these boots…I love them! After wearing my Old Navy boots non-stop last season (last seen here), I decided to invest in some higher quality ones with a lower heel that could be worn throughout the day without hurting my feet. These Antonio Melani boots are a dream and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the market for walkable, everyday boots. (I have them in this beautiful cognac color, black–seen here, and tan suede.)
At any rate, I love how this mix-and-match orange and black outfit looks and can’t wait to try out similar combinations in the coming months.
