Hi, friends! And welcome to a new week! How is yours starting out so far? This week is already going 10x better than the last for me. I still can’t believe how much time we spent finishing up our first math assignment of the year…yikes! But I’ve learned my lesson and have committed to staying on top of things for the next one due in 2 weeks. Anyways…
Today I’m excited to talk about fun, flirty style at work with a ruffle jumper dress that I’ve been searching for for years!
This look is inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Liz of Sequins & Stripes. A few years back she wore the coolest ruffle overalls here that I’ve ever seen and I just could not (and still can’t) get enough of them! I love how they are dressy enough to wear to the office, but also have an insanely fun ruffle detail that makes them perfect for date nights or fun weekend gatherings with the girls. A modern taken on a classic shape–my favorite!
Needless to say, when this black jumper (which has very similar details to Liz’s overalls!) became available this past winter from a Chicago-local boutique, I knew it would be the prefect little piece to add to my wardrobe. It has adorable ruffle sleeve details, which add flirt and flare to the look, while the longer-length skirt enables it to still be worn to work. A killer combination, in my opinion!
As you may have guessed, this jumper is made to be layered with a top underneath. And I love that you can make the piece season-appropriate just by choosing an appropriate weight of top to wear with it. Here I layered on a periwinkle tippi sweater underneath for winter, which is made of merino wool to keep me plenty warm throughout the day. Not only is the weight perfect, but I also love how the light blue-purple color feels fresh for winter (without veering too far forward into spring) and keeps the black jumper from feeling overly dark and professional.
And for a fun twist I added on these amazing black glitter boots (similar) I got for NYE from…you guessed it, Old Navy! (If you hadn’t noticed, Old Navy is my go-to for trendy seasonal boots that are still of great quality.) I love that these boots are dark enough to be worn everyday (read: not too flashy) but that the glittery sparkle gives them an extra special touch!
My office is a little more casual than the typical professional office, so I could definitely wear this fun, modern look to the office. It’s a great way to feel put together for the day while still letting your flirty style shine through!
What about you? How would you style a jumper?
