Today I’m sharing some photos I took with the amazingling talented photographer, Torrey Fox, while we were in San Francisco this past March. I first learned of Torrey after following Jennifer Nordine of Freckles on Filmore on Instagram. Her photos are always stunning and the epitome of perfection (seriously #goals), so I jumped at the opportunity to work with Torrey for content on my own blog! As you will see in the photos below, she is a magician behind the camera. I love how her photos are so bright, airy, and whimsical. And if that wasn’t good enough, she’s even sweeter and nicer as a person! Needless to say, I have serious friend envy of her and Jenn. If you ever get the chance to work with Torrey, do it!
Ok, ok now on to today’s post! Today’s look is about casual weekend comfort in the spring. It can be hard to put together an outfit that looks nice but is still comfortable enough for weekend errands and the like. So today I’m sharing a simple outfit I wore to walk around the Marina District with Torrey in San Francisco.
First things first…coffee! We stopped into the cutest little coffee shop called Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters. I don’t know about you, but anytime I can find a quaint, local, hole-in-the-wall coffee house (over the bigger chains), I’m all about it! I love supporting small business that focus more on the details of a great cup of coffee, and also the one-on-one relationships they form with customers. The baristas there were so nice, and loved asking me questions about my creative endeavors with the blog. They found it fascinating that I was out taking photos with Torrey! 🙂 Haha! And they wanted to know anything and everything about blogging. It was so refreshing to have a candid, genuine talk with people over something I am truly passionate about!
Plus, how amazing is this floral pineapple wallpaper?! Too cute!
For my outfit, I paired an easy graphic tee with a high-waisted pleated skirt. Most of the time I pair my weekend tees with jean shorts, but something about changing things up with a skirt makes me feel just a bit more put together without sacrificing my comfort. I love that this skirt has the a pretty striped print that acts as a neutral to be paired with a variety of tops. Here, I chose a graphic tee that pulled out the blue in the stripes, but I could have just as easily paired it with a bold green top for more color or a black silk tank for date night.
Mmmm…a warm latte on a cool morning in the Bay Area. The BEST!
And of course, when the day requires lots of walking, always have a comfy pair of sneakers to wear. I’ve never really been the type of person to have a plain white pair of sneakers, but they have definitely come in handy over the past year (styled here, here, here). The problem is keeping them nice and bright white! I’ve been told scotch guard does wonders, but if you have any other experience/suggestions, let me know!
I’m a huge fan of how playful a skirt with sneakers looks! It’s a combination I don’t wear often, but love how it turns out when I do pair them together.
After starting the morning slow with coffee, we headed over to The Bud Stop to look at all their beautiful, fresh blooms!
I’ve noticed more and more cabbage/leafy green plants in the mix with floral bouquets lately, and I have to say I’m a huge fan. I love how earthy and natural they feel next to the bright pink and yellow and purple blooms. Plus, anything in a miniature size is adorable, no?
I also love bringing along a nice big tote to carry all my goodies in for the day. This straw colorblock tote is so fun for spring and summer, and I love the shiny metallic stripe and bright blue tassel for fun, unexpected details.
And there you have it! A fun, cute yet casual look for exploring the Marina District of San Francisco! I can’t wait to share more of our adventure in the Bay Area with you all this coming week!
What about you? What do you like wearing on the weekends?
